The Newcastle Eye Hospital project combines a large archway sign with illuminated lettering and a distinctive eye logo. The curved face, raised letters and cross-pattern graphics make the signage part of the building rather than a separate flat panel.
Design and materials
For the Griffiths Road archway, we clad the face in brushed-finish aluminium composite panels, added a cut-vinyl cross pattern and mounted a printed, routed eye logo on standoffs. Halo-lit dimensional letters completed the sign.
Installation
The panels were fitted around the curve, with the joins aligned before the logo and lettering were installed. The work was coordinated with the building works, with the customer arranging the final mains electrical connection.
We also replaced the illuminated lettering on two existing curved signs elsewhere on the site, retaining their eye logos and preparing the existing surfaces for the new letters.
