Structure build or skin replacement, two different jobs
There are really two billboard jobs people ring us about, and they cost very different things. The first is a full structure build: we fabricate the steel frame, set it up on site and stretch a fresh banner skin across it. The second is a skin swap, the frame's already standing, the development's moved to the next stage, and you just need the artwork updated.
If you've already got a frame, you don't pay to build another one. We print a new UV-coated banner skin, come out, pull the old one and tension the new one on. It's the cheaper, faster path, and on land-sale sites where the message changes as stages sell out, it's the one most clients come back for.
Built for the Hunter's developments and big sites
We've fabricated and installed billboards across Newcastle and the Hunter: Home World, Honeysuckle, McDonald Jones Stadium, the NBN News sign, and land-sale boards for developments like Wirraway at Thornton and Hidden Waters at Fletcher. Land-sale signage is steady work around here: a new estate goes up, the board goes in, and the skin gets refreshed as stages release.
These are large, exposed, roadside structures, so we engineer the frame to stand up to wind and weather and handle the install logistics, access, traffic, lifting gear, as part of the job, not an afterthought.
UV coating, because it's facing the sun for years
A billboard skin lives outdoors with full sun on it, so the print has to hold its colour. We UV-coat the banner skin to slow fading and keep the artwork looking sharp through the seasons. When a skin does eventually tire, the frame stays and we just re-print and re-tension, you're not rebuilding the whole thing to freshen the look.
Answers
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a whole new billboard, or can you just replace the banner skin?
If the steel frame is already up and sound, we just print a new UV-coated banner skin and swap it on the existing structure. That's cheaper and quicker than a full build. We only fabricate a new frame when there isn't one, or the old one isn't fit to reuse.
Can you build the billboard structure as well as the sign?
Yes. We fabricate the steel structure, install it on site and stretch the printed banner skin across it, the whole job in-house. We've built billboards for developments, stadiums and land-sale sites across Newcastle and the Hunter.
How do you stop the artwork fading outdoors?
The banner skin is UV-coated to resist sun fade and weathering, so the colours stay strong for years of roadside exposure. When a skin finally tires, we re-print and re-tension a fresh one on the same frame.
Can you update the message as our development stages sell?
Yes, that's common on land-sale boards. The frame stays in place and we print and install a new skin each time the message changes, so the sign keeps pace with your releases.
What is the difference between cut vinyl and printed vinyl?
Cut vinyl is a single colour, ideal for lettering and simple logos. Printed vinyl allows full-colour, complex designs and photographic images.
What types of signs do you make?
Shopfronts, illuminated and lightbox signs, 3D lettering, banners, wall graphics, billboards, corflute, window and floor graphics, and more.
What materials do you use for signs?
ACM (aluminium composite), acrylic, polycarbonate, vinyl, corflute and PVC, chosen to suit the location and lifespan you need.
Can you install signs at my location?
Yes. Our team installs on site to suit your requirements.
What is the turnaround time for signage?
Standard turnaround is 5–10 business days from artwork approval. Rush services are available for an additional fee.
Do you offer warranties on signs?
Yes, a 3-year warranty on outdoor signs (the lifespan can vary with which way the sign faces and its sun exposure).
