Privacy and branding on the same glass
A frosted band across your windows stops people looking straight into your office, consult room or gym. Light still comes through, so the room doesn't go dark. Put your logo in the frosting and the same film carries your name to the street.
At Burgess Thomson the frosted band runs the length of the frontage, with the name repeated on every pane. At ToneLAB Training on Bull Street, Newcastle West, the frosting covers the glass, with a logo band across each pane and the name lettered down the door.
Where window graphics earn their keep
Glass walls inside a building need privacy too. At The Good Dentist the surgeries have glass walls, so we frosted them with a circle pattern, the practice logo and the room name. The surgeries are screened from the corridor and the light still gets through.
Shopfronts are the other big one. A full-colour print across the window turns the glass into a sign for everyone walking past. Sports Power has a runner on the beach printed across its front window, with a branded band on the door glass. Inside a building, a printed photo works the same way. For McDonald Jones we printed a stadium photo across a glass wall and its double doors.
Frosting or one-way vision?
Frosting is for privacy. It blurs the view through the glass and lets the light in. One-way vision is a printed perforated film. From outside you see a full-colour graphic, and from inside staff and clients can still see out. Newcastle Orthodontics in Charlestown has it across its glass frontage, so the practice stays bright and people outside see the brand. It works best in daylight. At night, with the lights on inside, people can see in.
For a name on the door or opening glass, cut vinyl lettering does the job and lasts 5 to 8 years depending on sun.
Glass and artwork
Big graphics need accurate measurements of every pane, so we measure the glass before anything goes to print. Vector logos give the cleanest edges when they're cut into frosting. Photos for a full window print need to be large enough to stay sharp at full size. If your files aren't ready, our in-house designers can set them up, and you get a proof to approve before we print.

Answers
Frequently asked questions
Can people see through frosted film?
Not clearly. Frosting blurs the view, so people outside see light and shapes, not detail. If you need full privacy, frost the whole pane. If you only need to stop people looking in at desk height, a band across the glass does the job.
Can you put our logo in the frosting?
Yes. We can cut your logo or name out of the frosting so it shows as clear glass, or repeat it along a band like the Burgess Thomson frontage. A vector logo gives the cleanest result.
Can you print a photo across a whole window or glass wall?
Yes. We print full-colour graphics to suit each pane and line the image up across the frames and doors, like the stadium photo on the McDonald Jones glass wall.
Will one-way vision make my shop dark?
No. The film is perforated, so light still comes through and you can see out from inside. From the street it reads as a full-colour graphic.
How long does lettering on glass last?
Cut vinyl lettering on glass lasts around 5 to 8 years, depending on how much sun the window gets.
